👉🏾 Less Aesthetic, More Action: What Revolution Really Looks Like

Let’s just go ahead and say it:

The political climate right now?
Outrageous. Stressful. Unpredictable. A lot.

Rights are being debated like they’re optional.
Policies are shifting like someone’s changing outfits.
And entire communities are out here just trying to exist without being targeted.

So naturally, people are asking:

“How do I even begin to be revolutionary in a time like this?”

And the answer is… not what Instagram told you.

🔥 Revolution Is Not a Vibe—It’s a Practice

Listen, posting a quote, lighting a candle, and saying “this is so sad” is not the revolution.

Helpful? Sometimes.
The whole assignment? Absolutely not.

Being revolutionary is not aesthetic. It’s not curated. It’s not always cute.

It’s:

  • Speaking up when it’s uncomfortable
  • Staying engaged when you’re tired
  • Doing the work when nobody’s clapping

Revolution is less “look at me” and more “let’s get free.”

🤝 Take Care of People Like You Mean It

Revolution isn’t just marching and hashtags.

It’s:

  • Making sure people have food
  • Helping someone navigate a system that makes no sense
  • Passing along resources, opportunities, and information
  • Showing up consistently, not just when it’s trending

It’s mutual aid. It’s care. It’s “I got you” energy.

Because what are we building if we’re not actually taking care of each other?

✊🏾 Use Your Voice Where You Already Are

Not everyone is going to lead a protest—and that’s okay.

But everybody has somewhere they can speak up.

Your job.
Your group chats.
Your family dinners (yes, even those conversations).

Revolution can look like:

  • Calling out harmful comments in real time
  • Advocating for equitable practices at work
  • Asking, “Who is missing from this decision?”
  • Not laughing at things that aren’t funny (you know what I mean)

Every room you’re in? That’s a chance to shift something.

💛 Joy Is Not a Distraction—It’s Strategy

Let me say this for the people in the back:

You are allowed to laugh.
You are allowed to rest.
You are allowed to experience joy.

In fact, you need to.

Because systems that thrive on oppression also thrive on your exhaustion and hopelessness.

Joy interrupts that.

So yes—dance, gather, celebrate, rest.

That’s not you “checking out.”
That’s you staying human.

💬 Let’s Keep It Real

Being revolutionary right now is not about being perfect.

It’s about being consistent.
It’s about being intentional.
It’s about doing what you can, where you are, with what you have.

Some days it’s organizing.
Some days it’s supporting.
Some days it’s resting so you don’t completely lose it.

All of it matters.

We don’t get to choose the moment we’re living in.

But we do get to choose how we show up in it.

So no, you don’t have to be the loudest person in the room.

But you do have to be real.
You do have to be present.
And you do have to be committed to something bigger than yourself.

Because if enough of us do that?

That’s not just survival.

That’s revolution—with receipts. 💛
